Group YOUNITE announced their comeback after one year with the hope of becoming ‘inyun’ with many people.
YOUNITE held a showcase at NOL Theater Hapjeong Dongyang Life Hall on the 12th to celebrate the release of their new song ‘POSE! (姿態),’ and shared stories about their new album.
Since debuting in April 2022, YOUNITE has drawn a rare growth curve by surpassing its previous records with every album, renewing its initial chodong sales for seven consecutive releases. YOUNITE, which took its first step into the music industry with initial chodong sales of 21,687 copies for its 1st mini album ‘YOUNI-BIRTH,’ proved nearly sevenfold growth from debut by achieving initial chodong sales of 147,433 copies with its 7th mini album ‘YOUNI-T,’ released in April last year. In particular, this new release holds added meaning as the group’s first album since transferring to PARAMUSIC, a K-pop-specialized label under BRANDNEW MUSIC, marking a new beginning.
EUNHO explained the album, saying, “This is an album that marks a new turning point for YOUNITE,” adding, “The reason it is inyun, not fate or coincidence, is because we believe that even if we exist in different times and spaces, one connection is created in the moment we briefly overlap.” He continued, “It also contains YOUNITE’s determination to become ‘inyun’ with many people.”
YOUNITE’s 8th mini album ‘INYUN Part.1’ expresses the feeling of connection that exists somewhere between fate and coincidence as ‘inyun,’ capturing the moment different beings become connected as one. The title track ‘POSE! (姿態)’ portrays the instant when an unseen connection is revealed. KYUNGMUN introduced it by saying, “It captures a single pose where two different worlds overlap within one frame, and it is a song where you can see a new YOUNITE with a different texture from before.” WUNO added, “It is a song we prepared with the determination to show a new YOUNITE through dense sounds, restrained energy, and delicately expressed performance.”
Their determination for their first comeback after transferring labels was also extraordinary. EUNHO said, “It was also recently our 4th anniversary, we transferred labels, and we prepared this album with the feeling of debuting again,” adding, “Personally, it felt like a refresh, so I prepared even more passionately.” HYUNGSEOK shared, “This is an album that includes a lot of our opinions, so because we wanted to do even better, the seven of us talked a lot and prepared hard.” EUNHO added, “We tried to communicate a lot with the company, and the company also tried to listen to our opinions a lot, so that preparation process was quite fun,” adding, “Compared to before, it felt like we were creating our own thing, so I think that was the difference.”
They also expressed anticipation for showing a new side. SION said, “Since we are now in our 4th to 5th year, we want to show a more sophisticated, gentle, and cool side.” DEY explained, “Before, we showed a lot of hip-hop-style performances, but this time, there are many linear choreographies and performances, so I think that will be an element that feels new to fans.” Regarding the point choreography, WUNO introduced it by saying, “There is a pose where we take a picture with a camera, and that movement is the point choreography.”
DEY, who is credited on the B-side track ‘Savior,’ said, “It is a song that captures the moment of confirming that we are eventually connected even amid different signals, breaking boundaries, and moving beyond limits,” adding, “I participated in the work together with HYUNGSEOK, and every time I take part in making a song, I feel grateful and want to do more in the future.” Regarding his satisfaction with the album, HYUNGSEOK said, “It is 4.8 out of 5,” adding, “I’ll leave 0.2 points for the future,” drawing laughter.
Behind-the-scenes stories from the music video shoot were also revealed. DEY recalled, “There’s a scene where WUNO and I have a pose battle. If it had been during our debut days, it would have taken a long time because we would have been holding back laughter, but this time we finished it quickly, so I thought we had become professionals.” SION shared, “There’s a scene with lobster CG, but we actually filmed while looking at a model,” adding, “I acted while immersing myself as if it were a real lobster.”
Meanwhile, member EUNSANG, who halted activities last year due to health reasons, will also not participate in this promotion. EUNHO said, “EUNSANG still seems to need recovery, so we decided that he would rest for this promotion as well,” adding, “It was our first album prepared by seven members, and I think we worked even harder because we felt that even as seven, we couldn’t show any empty space.”
YOUNITE’s 8th mini album ‘INYUN Part.1’ will be released today at 6 PM through various online music platforms. Attention is focused on whether YOUNITE, opening a new chapter with their first comeback after transferring labels, will break their previous record once again and achieve an 8th consecutive renewal of their initial chodong sales.
