FLARE U’s KANG WOO JIN shared his thoughts on debuting as a duo group.

FLARE U held a showcase on the 13th at Blue Square Woori WON Banking Hall to commemorate the release of their new song, “WAY 2 U.” On this day, KANG WOO JIN honestly shared how he felt about debuting as a duo.

KANG WOO JIN said, “Since we are a duo group, it is easy and quick to coordinate our opinions,” adding, “Compared to other groups, our hair and makeup time is shorter, and we also have many parts. Those are also advantages,” drawing laughter from the scene. CHUEI LI YU added, “As WOO JIN said, since we have many parts, there is an advantage in that each of our individual colors can be shown well,” and said, “These days, there are not many duo groups, so I actually think that is our strength.” He also shared, “There is a charm in two different characters coming together, complementing each other, and completing one another.”

Regarding the pressure of debuting as a two-member group, CHUEI LI YU said, “Debuting as a two-member group is not common, and we thought a lot about whether we could do well, but since both of us are doing this to repay our fans, we tried to overcome it.” KANG WOO JIN said, “I think it would be a lie to say that there was no pressure,” adding, “We went through thick and thin together on BOYS 2 PLANET, and we had our own narrative, so we were able to overcome it.” He added, “The more we actually do it, the more I feel that we can do it, and I am finding it fun.”

FLARE U is a duo group made up of CHUEI LI YU and KANG WOO JIN, who were recognized for their skills and potential through Mnet’s “Boys 2 Planet,” which aired last year. The two received much love from fans throughout the program for their extraordinary teamwork, and afterward, they continued to support each other by visiting each other’s fan meeting venues before finally coming together as one team.

KANG WOO JIN shared, “After the broadcast ended and we held fan meetings, there was no news, so I felt sorry to the fans,” adding, “I was practicing hard while waiting for a derivative group.” He continued, “At the beginning of the broadcast, there were many things that were physically and mentally difficult, but after going through it once, it helped me a lot with the things I did afterward.” CHUEI LI YU said, “Right after it ended, I immediately carried out solo activities, but in between, I think I made time to practice for group activities,” adding, “Thanks to the broadcast, I was able to debut, so I feel very grateful, and looking back now, I think it was a beautiful and unforgettable memory.”

Ahead of their debut, they also took the stage at “KCON JAPAN 2026” and met global fans for the first time. CHUEI LI YU recalled, “As a rookie group, I was happy and honored to be able to stand on such a big stage before our debut, and every moment was precious,” adding, “I performed on stage with the friends I appeared on the broadcast with and also met them backstage, so it was a very special memory.” KANG WOO JIN said, “Even when you prepare hard, it seems like there are always regrets that follow the stage,” adding, “Next time, I will prepare even harder so that I can reduce those regrets.”

Their debut album “YOUTH ERROR” is an album that contains the record of two youths who make mistakes, fall down, and each carry different errors. The title track “WAY 2 U” captures the excitement in the process of moving from friends to lovers, while the album includes a total of six songs, including the B-sides “Hyper” and “WOO-HOO,” delivering FLARE U’s unique youthful energy.

FLARE U’s first mini album “YOUTH ERROR” will be released through various online music sites at 6 p.m. on this day. Expectations are high for what kind of presence FLARE U, the “youth visual duo” newly appearing in the K-pop scene, will imprint with their first album.
