BABYMONSTER, who have been receiving rave reviews from music fans for their new song ‘WE GO UP,’ unveiled a behind-the-scenes video from the recording session on October 19, showing their passion and artistry in action.
As the song’s essence lies in its intense hip-hop energy, it demanded powerful delivery and expressive dynamics. First up was ASA, who impressed with her solid vocal projection and confident rapping, yet, unsatisfied with just a good take, she volunteered to re-record her part, elevating the song’s excitement with her signature high tone.
RORA and PHARITA anchored the track with their soulful tones and stable vocals, wrapping up their sessions with composure. CHIQUITA, who had been carefully working to bring out more power, absorbed every bit of direction perfectly, while RUKA showed duality, from adorable charm to deep, weighty rap lines that highlighted her professionalism.
AHYEON took on her trademark high-note ad-libs. At the suggestion of YG’s Executive Producer Yang Hyun-suk, she raised the key by four semitones, and contrary to concerns, delivered explosive vocals. The much-praised whistle section, which became a fan favorite, was actually AHYEON’s own idea, showcasing the group’s growing creative maturity.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER made their comeback on October 10 with their second mini album [WE GO UP]. The album topped the iTunes Worldwide Albums Chart immediately upon release, and also ranked No. 1 on both Hanteo and Circle Chart’s weekly album charts. The title track’s music video and performance video have surpassed 83 million and 59 million views on YouTube, respectively.
With their comeback promotions now in full swing, the group’s popularity continues to surge. Their ‘M Countdown’ encore stage on October 16 served as a major catalyst, fans and netizens alike praised the group’s “CD-quality live vocals,” and the video has already surpassed 1.7 million views, further fueling BABYMONSTER’s domestic and international chart momentum.
