AtHeart NAHYUN Says, “It Was My First Time Seeing a Pager…I Held It to My Ear Like a Phone” [HT Scene]

[Hanteo News = Reporter KANG SUYOUNG] AtHeart’s NAHYUN shared an episode from filming the drama, when she encountered a pager for the first time.

AtHeart held a production presentation for the multi-form drama <3+4!> and a showcase commemorating the release of its single ‘3!4!’ at RYSE, Autograph Collection, on the 19th. On this day, NAHYUN said, “I had used mobile phones since I was born, so it was my first time ever seeing a pager.”

Director Nam Tae-jin shared behind-the-scenes stories from working with AtHeart. “During the first shoot, there was a scene where NAHYUN had to check a pager and make a call, but because it was her first time seeing a pager, during rehearsal she held the pager up to her ear like this,” he said, drawing laughter at the scene. “So I remember teaching her how to use a pager.” He added, “Because they are idols, they are really good at finding the camera,” adding, “While editing, I am working hard to avoid the moments when they look at the camera.”

Regarding what he focused on to express the difference between the two eras, director Nam Tae-jin explained, “For AtHeart members in the present year 2026, I wanted to create a sophisticated and refined atmosphere, while for the 1996 members of Samsuns in the past, I wanted a freer and more amateur-like feeling to come through more.”

Regarding the multi-form drama, director Nam Tae-jin said, “We filmed horizontally while keeping in mind that it could be edited vertically,” adding, “We are working on two types of results: a 90-minute film version and a 50-episode short-form drama with each episode running 90 seconds.” He continued, “The filming is the same, but the styles and music are completely different, so the result will allow viewers to enjoy the charm of ‘3!4!’ and AtHeart in various ways.”

Regarding the message he wanted to convey, director Nam Tae-jin said, “I think the greatest value of human beings is sincerity,” adding, “While working on this project, the sincerity of these girls was captured so, so well, and I continued working while being moved by that sincerity.”

Regarding filming with Chae Rina, ARIN said, “I think it was such an honor just that the senior artists appeared in our drama, and since they told us we were doing well even though it was our first time acting, we really gained so much confidence,” adding, “Thanks to them, I think the quality of our drama was able to go up even more.”

Regarding the difference between performing on stage and acting, BOM said, “When we are on music shows, we always practice really hard to find the red light, and looking at the camera had always been part of our daily routine. But while filming the drama, because we had to talk to the character and the story, I kept focusing on not being conscious of the camera,” adding, “Rather than simply looking pretty, it was really important to express the character’s emotions, so I think that was different.”

AtHeart, which debuted in August 2025, is a seven-member girl group consisting of MICHI, ARIN, KATELYN, BOM, SEOHYEON, AURORA, and NAHYUN. With “twist” as its keyword, the group has showcased intense yet graceful performances and earned the modifier “the heart of the 5th generation.” The group is currently carrying out its “Time Travel Project,” which reinterprets hit songs from 1996 that were greatly loved both in Korea and abroad. Following its first single ‘Say It,’ which recreated The Cardigans’ ‘Lovefool,’ AtHeart is now presenting its second single.

The second single ‘3!4!’ is a reinterpretation of Roo’Ra’s hit song, which received great love upon its release in 1996, through AtHeart’s own sensibility. Original creator Lee Hyun-do personally participated in the arrangement, preserving the refreshing charm of the original song based on new jack swing while adding trendy sensibility and the seven members’ distinct vocal colors to complete a new energy.

AtHeart’s second single ‘3!4!’ will be released through various online music sites at 6 PM on this day. Attention is focused on what kind of new response AtHeart, time travelers who transcend a 30-year gap, will create with this single.
