[Hanteo News = Reporter KANG SUYOUNG] In the month of June alone, four teams became million-sellers.

Four million-seller teams stood side by side on Hanteo Chart’s June monthly Album Chart, which was released this morning (1st). TREASURE recorded sales of 1,082,855 copies with its 4th mini album 'NEW WAV,' released on June 1, while BOYNEXTDOOR reached 1,172,419 copies with its 1st full-length album 'HOME,' released on June 8. RIIZE recorded 1,296,274 copies with its 2nd mini album 'II,' released on June 15, and ATEEZ recorded 1,381,886 copies with its 14th mini album 'GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5,' released on June 26. The four teams, whose release dates were evenly spread throughout the month from June 1 to June 26, appeared together on the same monthly chart.

The meaning of this record differs for each of the four teams. TREASURE became an initial chodong million-seller for the first time in its six years since debut with an album filled entirely with hip-hop tracks. The music video for the title track 'IF I' surpassed 100 million views in just 11 days after its release, setting the team’s own fastest record. The album was praised as one that reinterpreted the essence of YG hip-hop through the team’s own color and earned the description of “proof of the second act of its activities.” BOYNEXTDOOR achieved its fourth consecutive million-seller with this album, following its 3rd mini album '19.99,' 4th mini album 'No Genre,' and 5th mini album 'The Action.' In its third year since debut, the group has built a stable box-office formula of four consecutive million-sellers with its first full-length album. RIIZE became a million-seller just four days after release. From its debut single in 2023 to its first mini album, first full-length album, and now this 2nd mini album, the group has joined the million-seller ranks for the fourth consecutive time. ATEEZ’s eight-year journey since its debut in 2018 was also fully reflected on this month’s chart. By the fifth day of release, the group had already surpassed 1.38 million copies and secured No. 1 on the monthly chart with sales from less than one week.

The only common point connecting the four teams is the number itself. Their years of debut differ, from ATEEZ in 2018 to BOYNEXTDOOR and RIIZE in 2023, and their agencies are also diverse, including KQ ENTERTAINMENT, YG ENTERTAINMENT, KOZ ENTERTAINMENT, and SM ENTERTAINMENT. Their album formats are not the same either, with BOYNEXTDOOR releasing a full-length album and TREASURE, RIIZE, and ATEEZ releasing mini albums. The nature of their fandoms, the colors of their music, and the amount of time it took them to reach this point are all different.

In K-POP, tens of millions of albums being sold each year has already been the norm for quite some time. It is also no longer unfamiliar to see a certain group dominate the album market. But what the June chart shows is a slightly different picture. Teams from different generations, different agencies, and different narratives reached the same record in their own ways. It is not simply that there are more million-sellers, but that the paths to becoming million-sellers have become more diverse.
