‘Comeback’ Highlight “Our goal is not top 1 anymore…It’s having fun and singing for a long time” [QnA]

Group Highlight is giving a gift of assurance to their fans with the 4th Mini Album.

Highlight is releasing the 4th Mini Album ‘AFTER SUNSET’ on November 7th.

‘AFTER SUNSET’ is an album name that contains Highlight’s heart towards the fans. Lee Gikwang introduced, “Just as the light comes again when dawn comes, I hope our promotion activities will be a natural time for our fans.”

You can see Highlight's unique performance on the stage of the title track ‘Alone.’ Earlier, the music video teaser predicted a strong performance with the ‘same’ team led by choreographer Choi Youngjoon, raising expectations. In this regard, Son Dongwoon said, “I practiced a lot to focus on the part that’s shown. I reflected many stories and concerns of the members in the performance,” he pointed out the focus when viewing.

Ahead of their second activity with the complete members this year, Yoon Doojoon announced his goal of “making a stage together happily, enjoying this time, and singing for a long time.” Yang Yoseop also said, “The most meaningful thing is to work steadily so that fans don’t feel anxious. I’m looking forward to this comeback because it’s an opportunity to show a music show stage in front of the fans after a long time.”

The 4th Mini Album ‘AFTER SUNSET,’ which contains Highlight’s special wishes and goals, will be released on various online music sites at 6 PM on this day. Prior to the release, Highlight revealed a question-and-answer session through their agency Around Us and delivered a special greeting directly to fans.

Q. This is the album with complete members in 8 months. I want to know how you feel about the comeback.

Yoon Doojoon : Making a comeback is always nervous. I thought we had done activities for a long time with lots of album, but especially the comeback day made me nervous.

Yang Yoseob : We always work hard to prepare, but actually, the evaluation is up to the fans. So I think that’s why I’m always nervous.

Lee Gikwang : As much as we worked hard on it, I hope the fans like it always.

Q. Please introduce the 4th Mini Album ‘AFTER SUNSET’ and its title track ‘Alone.’ Is there a special point when listening that you recommend?

Son Dongwoon : The title track ‘Alone’ is a pop track with the standing out minimal and retro colors. I thought a lot about it, but this time, I chose this song as the title track because I wanted to focus more on ‘what was shown on the surface.’

Lee Gikwang : We always hope that all of these moments when we can release albums and promote our songs after we’re discharged from the army are not something to be thankful for, but something to be natural for our fans. We named the album ‘AFTER SUNSET’ hoping that you would listen to our songs for granted as if the dawn comes after the night.

Yang Yoseob : By the way, ‘Light’ is also included in the names of both us and our fans!

Q. What did you put the most effort into while preparing for this album? There are tracks that Lee Gikwang participated in, so please recommend the tracks that you like the most.

Yoon Doojoon : Dongwoon said a little bit about the second question; for this time, we agreed to focus more on ‘what's being shown,’ so we paid a lot of attention to the choreography and performance. Seeing the rookies who are making comebacks having cool performances on stage these days, I wanted to give our fans a performance like that.

Son Dongwoon : That’s why we made lots of effort in the preparation. We have talked a lot with the members and thought a lot about reflecting on the performance.

Yang Yoseob : Actually, we performed ‘Seven Wonders,’ a song from our previous album, at a concert. Our fans really liked it because the choreography was a bit different from our usual choreography style. That’s why I put a lot of that kind of point into this time’s choreography.

Q. Starting with the spoiler, you guys revealed at the FAN CON, the trailer and various versions of concept photos drew attention even before the comeback. I want to know about the behind-the-scenes stories or episodes of the filming site that made the high-quality content.

Lee Gikwang : Before the teaser was released, we had a chance to talk with the fans online. As soon as the trailer came out, there were a lot of fans arguing about the nuance of what I said. I enjoyed watching it because all the opinions were plausible and had a nodding logic.

Son Dongwoon: Actually, there are quite a lot of parts that we made it intentionally, but there are a lot of people who find things and make interpretations beyond what we thought. When the contents come up, we sometimes look up to what the fans interpret.

Yang Yoseob: The process of putting our heads together and making a theory was really cute. So when we’re talking amongst ourselves, we're amazed, and we laugh because of the cuteness.

Q. Even in the 14th year of your debut, all members are active in various fields, including group and individual activities, which became the best example in the K-pop scene. Please tell us your thoughts, impressions, and aspirations.

Yoon Doojoon : I think I’ve talked about this once before, that Highlight’s goal is not becoming the top 1 anymore. I think our goal now is happily creating the stage performance altogether and enjoying this time and singing for a long period of time.

Yang Yoseob : I told this to Gikwang earlier that doing our activities continuously is the most meaningful thing for us so that our fans don’t get nervous. At first, I didn’t say, ‘Let’s make 2 comebacks in a year!’ Our fans like it when we make a comeback, this comeback was the first time since COVID-19 that we were able to perform on a music show in front of our fans, and I think it’s good that the timing is right.

Son Dongwoon : Slowly and steadily for a long time, I think this is the orientation for us right now. I want our fans to have trust in us that they can see us again next year even after these comeback promotion activities are done.

Q. I want to know what’s your goal of ‘AFTER SUNSET’ promotion activity and the 2022 year-end plan.

Lee Gikwang : Let’s enjoy the stage without anyone getting hurt and successfully finish it happily. That’s our goal every time we make a comeback. (Haha) After this comeback, I think we’ll be doing individual activities or preparing for individual projects. Since we all worked hard this year, I think there will be some members who going to take some rest.

Yoon Doojoon : This year, all the members worked hard in both group and individual activities, so I’m personally very proud. I hope everyone stays healthy and ends the year well.
