Group CRAVITY is creating a new wave in K-pop.

CRAVITY has started targeting K-pop fans’ tastes by providing CRAVITY’s power-positive energy through their 4th Mini Album ‘NEW WAVE’ released on the 27th.

‘NEW WAVE’ is a new album released six months after CRAVITY’s Studio Album part 2 ‘LIBERTY : IN OUR COSMOS’ released in March, and contains a total of six tracks. Through the album, CRAVITY talks about their youth through music.

After making their official debut in 2020, CRAVITY quickly gained recognition as a ‘next-generation super rookie’ after having won numerous prestigious rookie awards. Since then, CRAVITY has gained popularity not only in Korea but also internationally by making 3 consecutive appearances on the renowned talk show ‘Good Day New York’ on the U.S. FOX5 channel. Through the release of ‘NEW WAVE,’ CRAVITY, who has been progressively garnering attention and expectations from K-pop fans, will once again demonstrate their presence beyond rookies and give greater confidence over challenges.

The title track ‘PARTY ROCK,’ which will be the start, is an exciting dance song in the pop/rock genre that combines funk and EDM elements and is also a signature track that combines CRAVITY’s confidence and power-positive energy. Playful guitars, synths, and percussion sounds that make people excited meet CRAVITY’s energetic vocals, so people can feel the powerful refreshing sound to the fullest.

In addition, ‘Boogie Woogie,’ which was pre-released in August and attracted attention, ‘New Addiction,’ in which members Serim and Allen participated in the lyrics, ‘AUTOMATIC,’ ‘Colorful,’ the first self-written song by member Woobin, and the last track ‘Knock Knock’ is included in this album, and it’s expected to be the representative album of CRAVITY’s growth since the songs with various colors were expressed in CRAVITY’s own style.

In particular, in this album, members Serim and Allen, who have consistently participated in rap making and writing since their debut, participated in writing ‘PARTY ROCK,’ ‘New Addiction,’ ‘AUTOMATIC,’ and ‘Colorful,’ as well as Woobin’s overall production of his first self-composed song and enhancing the completeness, drawing attention on their developed musicality.

While attention is being paid to how the new wave that CRAVITY will make with their 4th Mini Album ‘NEW WAVE’ will cause changes in the music industry, CRAVITY members sent the questions and answers about the album.

Q. It’s your comeback in 6 months after the previous Studio Album part 2 ‘LIBERTY : IN OUR COSMOS.’ How do you feel?

Serim : 6 months can be either long or short, but I’m sure that many people will enjoy our songs together as this album contains CRAVITY’s confidence. We will make this album’s promotion fun and regretless time so that the time we prepared hard will not be wasted, so please look forward to it and show a lot of love.

Wonjin : Through the title track ‘PARTY ROCK,’ I want to not only show freshness but also give the fans positive energy that is powerful and exciting enough to be excited as soon as they see it. If you listen to all six tracks in this album, you’ll know why CRAVITY’s confidence is in it.

Hyeongjun : Since this album is about CRAVITY’s youth and growth, I was really curious about our fans’ reactions. It’s an album that the members participated in, and can see lots of musical growth, so I hope you love all the songs, and since we’ll show you a lot of various performances with CRAVITY’s charms, so please pay a lot of attention.

Q. Prior to the comeback, you showed various charms through the released teasing content, further raising expectations for this album. I wonder what kind of performance you will show through this album.

Minhee : As you’ve seen through each version of the concept photo ‘COME FIND US,’ in this album, I want to show you an honest youth without exaggeration rather than a serious appearance. We’re going to show you CRAVITY’s energy through a free and exciting performance, so please check out our performance!

Taeyoung : This album contains a lot of songs that everyone who listens to our album can enjoy together rather than intense performances. In this promotion, we’re going to show you a powerful refreshing side of CRAVITY (RefreshVITY) rather than a charismatic side of CRAVITY.

Woobin : I think it will be an album that will show CRAVITY’s youth. We tried to express our free feelings as they are, and we wanted to show CRAVITY’s unique colors, so you can find CRAVITY’s true self in them. Please look forward to what CRAVITY’s youth will look like.

Q. Can you explain the title track ‘PARTY ROCK’ of the ‘NEW WAVE’, which contains youth and growth?

Jungmo : I think it’s the definition of power-positive energy! It’s an exciting song that makes people excited as soon as they listen to it, and with CRAVITY’s energy, it was able to be our signature track. Please listen to ‘PARTY ROCK’ a lot!

Allen : I think we were able to show more refreshing synergy by adding our members’ vocals in the funky rhythm. If you want to enjoy the freshness, I recommend ‘PARTY ROCK!’

Seongmin : I think the joy of listening to ‘PARTY ROCK’ will be doubled if you pay attention to the lyrics and performances! The lyrics are full of free and exciting emotions, so I think we were able to appeal to the parts that we wanted to express.

Q. CRAVITY’s performance is indispensable when it comes to the stage, as it gets the modifier ‘PerfoTIVY (Performance + CRAVITY)’ with a perfect choreography. What’s the key point-choreography for the title track?

Hyeongjun : We named it ‘Party Rock Dance,’ and the hand gesture that symbolizes rock and roll is the key point. I think the choreography expresses the song well, so I believe our fans will like it.

Taeyoung : I also want to say ‘Party Rock Dance’ as the point dance. The ‘PARTY ROCK’ challenge is also being held through TikTok, and even if you don’t follow the exact dance moves, I hope you can enjoy it freely with the rock and roll hand movements according to our songs. I hope you can relieve your stress through our challenge, so please look forward to the ‘PARTY ROCK’ challenge.

Allen : Since the title track is an exciting song, this song has a lot of exciting choreography that reminds us of a party. We’re going to show you a lot of fun performances that go well with the song that every part can be considered as the point choreography, so please look forward to it.

Q. You are drawing attention and being loved by global K-pop fans as soon as the release of the ‘PARTY ROCK’ music video. Is there a memorable episode during the music video filming?

Serim : First of all, thank you so much for loving the ‘PARTY ROCK’ music video. The members and staff all worked hard because it was so hot and humid since it was at the end of July, but I’m still happy that the results came out satisfactorily.

Seongmin : We filmed at an abandoned resort in Taean on the first day, and as Serim said, it was very hot and humid. I was worried a lot before the shoot, but as I was filming, there were many fun elements and the preview came out satisfactorily, so I was able to complete the shoot happily.

Woobin : It was hot when we filmed the music video, but there were a lot of scenes we had lots of fun filming. I think it’s because all the members enjoyed filming, and I think that’s well captured in the music video. Just like we had a lot of fun filming, I hope we can share this feeling with the people who are watching CRAVITY’s music video.

Q. There are various genres of 6 tracks in the 4th Mini Album, including ‘PARTY ROCK.’ What is the song you want to recommend aside from the title track?

Jungmo : I want to recommend Woobin’s first self-composed song, ‘Colorful.’ The song is great, but the lyrics are especially good. It contains a message that the boring and repetitive daily life has become colorful and varied because of ‘You,’ and I think it’s a song that people can feel CRAVITY’s color well because it’s a song which the members participated in.

Wonjin : Then I’ll recommend ‘New Addition’ and ‘AUTOMATIC’ that Serim and Allen participated in writing the lyrics! Both songs have attractive melodies and lyrics, so I hope you’d add them to your playlist.

Minhee : I love all the songs in this album, so I think it’s too difficult for me to pick just one. From ‘Boogie Woogie’ to ‘KNOCK KNOCK,’ you’ll be able to understand why it was hard to pick only one favorite song.

Q. Serim, Allen, and Woobin participated in the ‘NEW WAVE’ album. In particular, the members’ participation in this album has increased, with Woobin participating in producing his first self-composed song, and I wonder how it feels to include songs that you guys participated in writing and composing yourself.

Serim : I’m happy to show CRAVITY’s unique colors as the members’ participation in the album increases gradually. Thanks to LUVITY’s (fandom name) support and love for the lyrics I wrote, I was able to write good lyrics. I want to work hard in the future to repay our fans with great work.

Allen : Every time the song I wrote is included in the album, I’m happy, and it’s amazing. Thank you to LUVITY, who always inspires me positively, and I hope you also love the songs included in this album.

Woobin : I’m excited and happy that my song is included in the album for the first time. I worked on it for a long time since I started working on the song after the ‘Gas Pedal’ activity, so I really hoped our fans liked it a lot. I wanted to make a song that would be good to listen to for everyone, so I worked by setting a standard for the members, and I’m glad that many people seemed to like it.

Q. You showed steady growth on every comeback. Through this album, which is introduced as CRAVITY's growth, what aspect do you think you’ve developed?

Jungmo : I think we grew up the most musically. A lot of the members participated in this album, and since it’s already our third year, I hope you can feel that CRAVITY’s musical skills have grown this much through this album.

Taeyoung : I also hope it will be an activity where many people can feel that CRAVITY has grown in terms of music and performance. We’re always working hard to show you good performances, so please keep an eye on CRAVITY’s development at every stage.

Hyeongjun : I think I’ve grown the most in both music and performance, like the other members, and I think I’m growing more and more in terms of teamwork. As we get to know each other more, I think we’re able to show better synergy in our daily lives as well as on the stage.

Q You participated in the ‘KCON 2022 LA’ and the ‘KCON 2022 US Tour,’ as well as including 3 consecutive appearances in ‘Good Day New York,’ a famous talk show on the U.S. FOX5 channel, and met with international fans. I think you’d have special feelings.

Serim : We, CRAVITY, didn’t have a chance to meet our international fans face to face because of COVID-19, but we were so thankful and happy that many international fans recognized us and loved us. In the case of ‘Good Day New York,’ we only used to appear through video, but this time we went to the U.S. and filmed it on the spot, so it was fascinating and exciting.

Allen : I visited New York for the first time with the members, and I think it was more fun visiting with them. It was great to interact with LUVITY overseas through the ‘Good Day New York’ broadcast, and I was happy to show CRAVITY’s performance to a lot of people through ‘KCON.’

Jungmo : I was sad since we didn’t have many opportunities to interact with LUVITY abroad, but I was happy to meet them through the stages of ‘Good Day New York’ and ‘KCON’ this time. It felt like a dream to be able to see fans abroad and perform on stage in front of them. I worked harder because I wanted to show them a great performance. I hope we can meet international LUVITY more often.

Q It’s already your third year since debut. You held your first concert since debuting in April and began the overseas activities in earnest through the ‘KCON 2022 US Tour.’ Do you have any goals you want to achieve as CRAVITY?

Minhee : I hope there will be more opportunities to meet more fans face-to-face! It was such a great time to interact with fans at the concert hall, and my goal is that I want to perform at a concert hall that is big enough to bring the entire LUVITY from all over the world together!

Seongmin : I want to let more people listen to CRAVITY’s music. When it comes to CRAVITY, I want to be loved by the public so much that we get the modifier of a ‘group that people listen to with trust.’

Wonjin : First of all, the goal that I want to achieve through this activity is to win first place in music programs, and my goal in the future is that I want to promote CRAVITY to the public more. We are planning to show the charm of CRAVITY through various activities, so I hope many people will love CRAVITY.

Q. For the last question, one word to LUVITY (fandom name), who waited for the comeback of ‘NEW WAVE.’

Serim : LUVITY! Hope you look forward to this time since we came back after lots of preparation for the promotion, so let’s make fun stages and performances by enjoying the activities together!
