[Hanteo News = Reporter JUNG JUNHWA] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as organizer, the Korea Creative Content Agency, as host, and the Korea Independent Label Association, or LIAK, as operator, will recruit 40 trainees for the ‘2026 Popular Music Practical Masterclass,’ a program designed to cultivate field-ready talent for the popular music business, from Friday, July 10 to Monday, July 20.
This program combines practical education in the popular music business with company-linked internships, allowing beginners in the music industry to build both theoretical knowledge and on-site experience at once. It consists of four weeks of intensive practical training and five months of company internship, with wages based on the 2026 minimum wage and the four major social insurances supported during the internship period.
The education program will consist of a total of 60 lectures, ranging from practical theory to field learning. The core curriculum includes understanding the popular music industry, artist management, music planning and A&R, music and performance production, digital music, album, and IP distribution, PR, marketing, and viral marketing, global promotion and overseas networking, AI and content production, copyright, contracts, and settlement practices, portfolio production, artist special lectures, and observation of Live Club Day.
Expert mentoring by field, portfolio production support, field learning, and networking opportunities will also be provided, and laptops will be supported during the program period. The detailed curriculum, instructors, and participating companies will be announced later.
After completing the practical training, trainees will carry out a five-month internship at a matched company among more than 60 member companies of the Korea Independent Label Association, including labels, distributors, and performance production companies currently leading the Korean music industry. A certificate of completion will be issued upon finishing the program, and outstanding trainees will be given awards as well as opportunities for formal employment linkage.
An official said, “This is a course where participants can learn the overall popular music business, from A&R and distribution to performances, marketing, and global expansion, all at once, while gaining experience at actual companies,” adding, “We hope for strong interest from applicants preparing for employment in the music industry.”
