The presence of a powerful rival becomes a driving force for growth. Following “TEDDY girl group” MEOVV, izna has thrown down the gauntlet. Their weapon is the powerful addictiveness led by 'METRONOME.'

 

izna held a showcase at Blue Square Woori WON Banking Hall in Itaewon-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 8th to commemorate the release of its 3rd mini album 'SET THE TEMPO' and officially announced its comeback.

 

‘SET THE TEMPO’ is an album that continues izna’s own narrative of “being ourselves” by more clearly revealing the group’s independent attitude of saying, “We ourselves become the standard,” rather than following the standards expected by the world.

 

Including the title track ‘METRONOME,’ as well as ‘R.I.P.,’ ‘INFINITY,’ ‘ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS,’ and ‘LEAN ON ME,’ the album is set to prove izna’s further expanded musical spectrum through a total of five organically connected tracks. Among them, ‘INFINITY’ was further completed with members BANG JEEMIN and YU SARANG participating in the lyrics.

 

The members showed their determination from their comeback remarks. YU SARANG explained, “It contains our ambition to move forward at izna’s own pace, not according to other people’s gazes or the speed set by the world.” JEONG SAEBI also added, “The title track 'METRONOME' is a song about finding our own rhythm even within irregular emotions.” KOKO expressed confidence, saying, “It is a highly addictive song that sticks in your ears once you hear it. We also made a new cheering chant.”

During the performance of this title track, the point choreography especially caught attention. High-level voguing elements and precise synchronized choreography are combined to maximize visual pleasure, and the key point is the so-called “protractor dance,” in which the members use their core to go down at a steady speed.

 

Regarding this, BANG JEEMIN explained, “There were many movements where we had to keep our center and maintain balance, so we had difficulties,” adding, “But as we practiced repeatedly and gradually built teamwork, everything matched well, our chemistry improved, and we perfectly pulled off even the dance break where energy bursts out.”

 

Questions were also asked about star producer TEDDY, who once again added strength to this album, and MEOVV, which is currently promoting under his production. Regarding this, MAI said, “Producer TEDDY always tells us to do what we want to do, and this time too, after listening to our recording, he told us, ‘I already think it is good, so this time, record until you are satisfied with it.’”

 

When asked about their promotions overlapping with MEOVV, YU SARANG said, “I think it is an honor to be able to promote together with such great artists,” and explained izna’s own point of differentiation, saying, “izna’s strength is creating highly complete stages based on diverse vocals, energetic performances, and solid teamwork.”
