X1's fandom ONE IT Starts a Campaign that Supports the Formation of X1's New Group

As group X1 has officially announced its disbandment, some fans are supporting the formation of a new group.

 

X1 is a group formed through Mnet’s ‘Produce X 101’ TV show and debuted with the 1st Mini Album ‘QUANTUM LEAP’ on August 27th of last year. This album has recorded 524,007 copies in Initial Chodong (first week of release) sales and became the first debut album to reach a 'half-million' seller in K-Pop history. Among all the K-Pop albums released in 2019, the album placed 3rd in Initial Chodong sales and garnered a lot of attention with the record.

 

X1’s members also were delighted by the result that the fandom ONE IT created for the group and thanked the fans through a celebration video saying, “We will become X1 that tries as hard as the love you have sent us.”

 

However, X1 disbanded after Mnet's ‘Produce X 101’ became the center of controversy for fabricating the result of the program. On the 6th, the program has officially announced, “We have negotiated with the principle of unanimity of all members and the management companies but couldn't reach to an agreement, and thus, decided to disband.” After this, the public is expressing and discussing different opinions on X1’s disbandment.

 

ONE ITs are also expressing different opinions from one another. Some fans are supporting the formation of a new group with the members who wanted to continue the promotion as X1, and they have started campaigns both online and offline to support.

 

Especially, not only the domestic but also the global fans are actively participating in the campaign. On the 7th and 8th, the text that supports the formation of X1’s new group also trended number 1 on Twitter as well.

X1’s global fandom Twitter account, ‘X1 GLOBAL,’ put up a ‘Crown Media Ad’ (Full-side video ad) at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, that supports X1’s formation of a new group, and the fandom revealed that the ad was played more than 100 times.

 

Centered with the text that says “We support a new X1,” the ad features the same text in English on the left and Korean on the right along with a video. The content consists of the texts, “The sweat and tears of the idol members who were pursuing their dreams captured the hearts of the fans from 123 countries worldwide. Their destiny to become the legend of K-Pop is clear. X1, they have enough potential to fly high. Support the new group of X1.”

 

As such, while the announcements and campaigns of the support of X1’s fans worldwide are continuing, it is of interest whether the fans' voices can impact the X1 members’ promotion as a new group in the future.
